A GIRL
A girl, a girl, a creature I have failed to understand
With all the courage I muster up and walk to her
And pour my heart out with all these sweet words I managed to memorize
Only for her to ask for time to think.
A girl, a girl, she answers when you call, replies when you text
Only for the next day when you ask for your answer
And she doesn't recall the conversation from the top
You repeat yourself, feeling like a fool.
A girl, a girl, when you talk to her, her words seem to say yes
But her lips won't open up, her actions seem to say yes
Yet her mouth remains silent, and you're left in confusion, Wondering what she really wants.
A girl, a girl, she keeps saying no, but when you hold her hand
It says yes, and you're left wondering what to do
Is it worth the risk, to pursue this elusive creature?
Or should you just let her go?
A girl, a girl, so beautiful and mysterious
A puzzle that you can't quite solve, a riddle that you can't quite crack
But maybe that's the beauty of it, the mystery that keeps you coming back
To this girl, this girl, who has captured your heart.

ReplyDeleteBeautifully written. Always wondered...how much of girlhood entails being elusive? I guess I have my answer now. It's a very interesting read. I singled out the rhythm, too.
