Sleek Dreams

By the roadside, I counted six hundred eighteen cars,

Sleek and shiny, glinting in the sun.

I walked back home and I got an equivalent number of canes,

Stinging and sharp, leaving bruises on my skin.

But as I nursed my wounds, I nursed a new dream as well,

A spark ignited in my heart by what I saw that day.

It really didn’t matter that I had to spend a week bruised,

Or that I had to hold my head down to hide my tears.

All that mattered now is what I saw that day by the roadside,

A vision of what could be, if only I dared to dream.

So I picked myself up, dusted off my clothes,

And set out on a journey to make that dream come true.

  3. Vivid descriptions, great title. This one's a little more uplifting than your other pieces. Sorry about the bruises. How far along the journey are you now?
