Braving Fear

I have been waiting for this chance.

Here I stand with heart and soul.

Today is the day to take heart.

I've been watching him from a distance like a hawk for so long.

I've accumulated scars on my legs from all the thorns and bushes I've had to hide behind,

just so I could get a glance at him.

For a while now, fear had been eating me up.

Laughable enough, the same fear has driven me to action.

Here I stand in front of him to bring to light that my heart yearns to have him.

Today, I won't be afraid to state what I feel.

Crazy I may be called, but I am standing tall.

I feel unsteady, with nothing grand to offer,

no fancy gifts to bestow like all the other girls.

But I want him to know what he means to me,

I want to be his shade when the rains fall,

to be the one he turns to when he needs comfort and support, his guiding light.
