Myself

I am working on myself for me.

I want to stand out in the crowd.

I have to make myself as beautiful as I can.

Today, I am sanding myself like wood,

ironing myself like a cloth.

I am working on myself for me.

I won’t let them sway me, following what they want.

Today, I will model myself into any shape I desire.

I will be calm and composed because I want to be more than I am.

I want everyone to look around and see beauty.

They are watching, how long will they keep watching my every move?

Are they waiting for my failure?

For me to go crawling at their feet,

or are they fascinated by my blazing fire to do it without them?

I won’t allow myself to be crippled for who I am.

I feel calm because I am relishing myself,

enjoying my every moment.

I won’t let their whispers ruin my concentration.

Today, I take a step ahead of everyone

in building myself for what it's worth,

despite all the peeking eyes in all corners.

I am standing tall like an erect building.
