Stains of Ink
If it's not for the struggles to make them proud,
If it's not for a future we wish to make better,
If it’s not for the people we want to prove wrong,
Then it's all for nothing.
Even tirelessly we open books,
With eyes closing in as we fight the sleep,
Sitting in classes daily just to achieve dreams,
Fighting hard to make sure we aren't the failures.
Misunderstanding is the order of the day
When they claim we don't want to study.
Behind closed doors, we try,
We know the struggles of payments
Our parents go through.
On nights we rise to fulfill our dreams.
Hoping to achieve more,
Sometimes we fall from failures,
Shamed for our failures by many,
Only because they don't know the struggles.
We hold on because education is key.
Though many hold with slippery hands
And they fall off,
Which is tragic, for different reasons.
Others barely have the materials to use,
I mean the pens, books, and all the required materials,
But still, they study,
Even when things don't seem okay at home,
Because Education opens doors.
Behind the success and the congratulatory smiles, there are hidden battles,
Behind Education’s pride and praise,
There are hidden struggles that only remain unsaid.
