Shattered Reflection

Am still figuring it out,

How we are so broken,

How we are now shrouded in pieces.

I didn't know it wasn't about me or love,

Rather a revenge for you.

Yeah, I know you tell everyone it was justice.

You say I deserved it because I hurt you first.

Was it all because I turned you down once,

Or because I looked at him more differently than I did you?

I applaud you for driving me in like nails.

Job well done, I couldn't be pulled out of the wood you drove me in.

I guess you feel mighty for an accomplished job.

But you will always be a hammer.

  1. That last line, wow. This poem is painful but so strong. You’ve captured betrayal and anger in such a powerful, poetic way.
